In Zhytomyr, a fatal accident occurred on the evening of November 9 at the intersection of Velyka Berdychivska and Mykhailivska streets. At least two people were killed, and two others were injured.
The acting senior inspector of the press service of the Patrol Police Department in Zhytomyr region, Artur Zhelinskyi, confirmed the accident. In a comment to "Suspilne," he noted that law enforcement received a call at approximately 21:15.
What is known about the road accident
The incident took place near the city council at the intersection before the traffic light. "Zhytomyr.info" reports that a passenger car and a route bus No. 1 collided on the road. Both vehicles were moving in the same direction, towards Sobornyi Square.
As a result of the accident, the car drove onto the sidewalk.
According to patrol police data, the driver of the "Ruta" route bus attempted to change lanes to the far right lane. He did not maintain a safe lateral distance and failed to yield to the KIA car, whose driver was already in the far right lane.
"At this moment, it is known that two people have died. Two injured individuals were taken to the hospital," Artur Zhelinskyi reported preliminary information.
Due to the road accident, traffic was temporarily blocked in both directions.
"Patrol officers are ensuring the protection of the scene, safety, and traffic regulation. All relevant services are working at the accident site," Zhelinskyi assured.
