In Transcarpathia, border guards caught men who wanted to illegally cross the state border. To get to another country, the defendants paid transporters from $5,000 to $10,000 per person.

As it turned out, the plan of the ferrymen was that the men would have to swim across the Tisa on their own, but no one warned them about this in advance. The State Border Service reports this.

One of the men from the Ternopil region independently reached Transcarpathia. Upon arrival at the scene, he joined a group of other people; the men were picked up by a car and taken away in an unknown direction.

Soon the men were given a rubber boat and told that they would have to swim across the river. No one warned about the dangers of such a journey across a body of water.

“Nothing was said about there being a crossing there,” one of the men said.

However, 300 meters before the border they were noticed by border guards of the Mukachevo detachment and taken to the unit.

Administrative protocols have been drawn up against the violators and an investigation is underway to identify the persons involved in this organization of illegal border crossing.
