The European Union made an important decision on preferential trade for Ukraine

Ambassadors of the European Union member countries agreed to extend the preferential trade regime for Ukraine for another year. The decision was made today, February 22.

They agreed on the Rada’s mandate for negotiations to continue the suspension of import duties and quotas on Ukrainian and Moldovan exports to the EU for another year. This was reported in the official press release of the European Commission.

Thus, on March 7, 2024, the European Parliament Committee on International Trade will vote on the proposal. The provisions must then be adopted by the Council of the EU, signed by representatives of the Council and the European Parliament and published in the Official Journal of the EU before entering into force.

It should be noted that it was the benefits for agricultural products from Ukraine that became the reason for the protest in neighboring countries. Neighboring states are asking the EU to repeal the decision.
