According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, without long-range weapons it is not only difficult to carry out an offensive mission, it is also difficult to carry out a defensive operation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy named the main factors that could help Ukraine change the course of the war. He spoke about this in an interview with the Cinque minuti program of the Italian TV channel Rai 1.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s war against a cynical enemy continues and the main thing that could change the course of hostilities is modern long-range weapons or ones that will match the characteristics of Russian weapons.
"If you have the appropriate weapons, and you can respond to the Russian army, which uses long-range weapons against your civilian cities. For example, Kherson, they are on the other side of the Dnieper and their range is greater than ours. They shoot 20 km plus, and We have an artillery shell up to 20 km. If you have long-range weapons, you can knock them out further," the head of state noted.
Zelenskyy cited as an example that as soon as Ukraine was able to drive the Russian fleet out of the Ukrainian territorial waters of the Black Sea, as soon as the Russian Federation began to lose its ships, many of these ships retreated to Russian territorial waters.
Earlier, the president already said that the Ukrainian army needs long-range weapons. Thanks to him, the Defence Forces will be able not only to liberate Ukrainian territories from the occupiers, but also to successfully carry out defensive actions while maintaining a distance from the enemy, Zelenskyy believes.
“Without long-range weapons, it is not only difficult to carry out an offensive mission, it is also difficult to carry out a defensive operation. This means that you are defending your land and cannot reach the appropriate distance to destroy your enemy. That is, the enemy has a distance advantage,” the head explained states.
