There is a threat of blackout at Zaporizhzhya NPP: the power supply line is de-energized

On Friday, March 22, during a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine at 05:10 in the morning, the external overhead line of the 750 kV Dniprovska overhead line, connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP with the unified energy system of Ukraine, was switched off.

This was reported by the Telegram channel of the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom.

Europe’s largest nuclear power plant is connected to the Ukrainian energy system only through the 330 kV overhead power line "Zaporizhzhya Thermal Power Plant - Ferrosplavna".

The line was recently repaired by Ukrainian power engineers, as it had not been operational for a long time due to damage as a result of regular Russian shelling.

“This situation is extremely dangerous and is fraught with the onset of an emergency. If the last communication line with the domestic energy network is disconnected, the Zaporizhzhya NPP will find itself in another blackout, which is a serious violation of the conditions for the safe operation of the station,” emphasized the head of Energoatom, Petro Kotin.

He noted that the Zaporozhzhya nuclear power plant should immediately come under the full control of Ukraine, its legal operator, Energoatom, and Russia should withdraw its military and military equipment from the station.
