The Pentagon has already signed a contract to build three production lines for 155mm ammunition parts, analysts say. They must be located in the state of Texas.

The United States of America wants to double the production of artillery ammunition to provide it to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was reported by analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

A report dated April 1 said that the United States wants to purchase Turkish explosives to increase the production of American artillery shells. At the same time, the Pentagon has already signed a contract with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems for the construction of three production lines of 155-mm ammunition parts. They must be located in the state of Texas. Turkish subcontractors are also involved in the contract.

It is reported that construction of one plant should begin in June of this year.

As Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Doug Bush previously said, the United States wants to double the monthly production of 155-mm shells from 28,000 shells per month in October 2023 to approximately 60,000 shells per month in October 2024. True, this is only possible with additional appropriations proposed by Congress.

In addition, analysts noted that Ukraine’s partners from Europe and Asia also continue to support it. They are increasing their own defense-industrial capacity. For example, back on March 28, Germany announced a new aid package to Ukraine, which includes ammunition for artillery and tanks, as well as UAVs, etc. Later it became known about help from Belgium and Japan.

ISW noted that Japan has already relaxed the rules for the transfer of defense equipment. This will make it possible to export fighter aircraft. Tokyo is going to develop them together with London and Rome until 2035. They can be sent to third countries, but only if there are no hostilities taking place there.

In addition, the Czech Republic has reportedly secured contracts worth approximately €1.8 billion for one million artillery shells for Ukraine. Germany decided to allocate another 10 thousand ammunition.
