The humanitarian situation in the Oleshky community is deteriorating significantly. Over the past year alone, hundreds of civilians have been injured in the hostilities, and more than fifty people have died.

This was reported by the head of the city military administration, Tetyana Hasanenko, in a commentary on the Radio Liberty project “News of the Azov Region.” She noted that the situation is catastrophic, because the community is still under occupation by Russian troops.

“At the moment, the situation in the Oleshky territorial community is catastrophic. There is no electricity, gas, water. The city is constantly under shelling. Drones are flying, the entire infrastructure is being destroyed under shelling. Especially in Oleshky,” the official said.

Since the beginning of the year, according to Hasanenko, 28 civilians have been injured. 21 people were injured. There are severe cases with amputations. Seven civilians died.

“We are trying to keep records of people who died as a result of shelling, that is, they were injured from mine explosion injuries. In 2023 alone, we received data that 213 people were injured. Of these, 160 were wounded, 53 people were killed. all the time," she said.

Hasanenko said that residents of Oleshky are often in shelters, however, due to shelling, new civilian casualties are constantly appearing.

“These are only those people about whom we became aware, their exact data. But I am sure that the numbers are not complete. Because there are people who suffered, but no one told us about them. That is, these are not complete recorded facts about which we know for sure. Therefore, we cannot rely on them as complete information. I think that these numbers are many times higher," the head of the CMA summed up the situation, adding that some villages of the community no longer exist at all.
