Temporary emergency power cuts have been introduced in Ukraine. The restrictions were introduced in five regions - Dnipro, Zaporizhzhya, Kirovohrad, Poltava and Sumy - for the period from 18:45 to 22:00. The lights turn off without a prior schedule, in emergency mode.
Planned energy supply restrictions also continue to apply to all consumers in the Kharkiv region and industry in Kryvyi Rih. This was reported by Ukrenergo .
“The volume of restrictions will be less than on April 4. Oblenergo in the regions will distribute the available volume of electricity evenly between queues of consumers. Consequently, interruptions in energy supply will be less long,” the energy workers said.
The reason for the outages remained unchanged - the lack of sufficient generating capacity in the energy system. As a result, the current is not enough to cover consumption in certain regions of the country.
“This is a consequence of the latest massive Russian attacks on Ukrainian power plants... We ask you to consume electricity carefully,” the energy workers said.
In particular, this night Russia again attacked energy infrastructure facilities in the Odesa region, damaging some of the equipment. There was no loss of power to consumers, Ukrenergo reported. On the morning of April 5, 408 settlements were cut off. Due to the fighting, power supply was interrupted in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. Due to technical damage - in the Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions.
Also, as reported by the Ministry of Energy, the 330 kV overhead line "Zaporizhzhya Thermal Power Plant - Ferrosplavna", which is a backup power source for the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, remains de-energized. The station is powered by one 750 kV line. The water level in the cooling pond is 15.5 m. This is enough to meet the needs of the station.
In the Sumy region, consumers of the 1st and 2nd stages were emergency disconnected from the energy system, reports Sumyoblenergo . However, the turn and the reason for the blackout can only be found out at a time when the consumer has no power.
“You can check your queue of outages (by entering your address) on the website in the “Output” section at the time of the outage. Your turn and the reason for the blackout will only be shown at a time when you have no power. Do not trust other unverified charts and sources,” they said in company.
The situation in the Poltava region is similar. “On April 5, from 18:41, a schedule of emergency shutdowns from stages 1 to 2 was applied in the region. The volume of unloading through the Poltavaoblenergo distribution system is 27.756 MW,” the oblenergo statement says.
Dneipropetrovsk region: emergency shutdowns introduced
On the evening of April 5, emergency power outages were introduced in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Planned schedules are inactive; it is impossible to foresee the time and duration of restrictions for a specific consumer.
“Due to the difficult situation in the energy system caused by shelling by Russian occupiers, emergency shutdowns have been introduced in the Dnipropetrovsk region by order of NPC Ukrenergo. We are working 24/7 to return light to the homes of Ukrainians,” the oblenergo said.
In the morning, 968 consumers remained without power in the region. Due to the fighting, 10,175 clients were also disconnected, but all of them were healed. “As a result of enemy shelling in the area of Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region, several overhead lines were damaged. Some of them were returned to operation. At the same time, the local solar power plant lost power,” the Ministry of Energy reported.
Kirovoghrad region: emergency shutdown
Emergency power outages are used in the region, which means that it is impossible to foresee the timing. Kirovohradoblenergo warned about this.
“From 18:45, emergency power supply shutdown schedules have been introduced throughout the Kirovohrad region, by order of NEC Ukrenergo. This is a necessary step to avoid network overload and balance the energy system. This schedule is being introduced on an emergency basis, so it is impossible to make it public in advance,” - said the power engineers.
Kharkoiv and region: restrictions apply
In the Kharkiv region, hourly shutdown schedules were in effect from 05:40. But from 07:00 in Kharkiv and the region, the Ukrenergo dispatch center is forced to apply emergency shutdowns. 550 thousand subscribers were de-energized, of which about 330 thousand were in Kharkiv.
“The reason is a technological accident in the networks of oblenergos. Emergency restoration work continues. In total, about 550 thousand consumers were de-energized in the region this morning, and the operation of electric transport was partially stopped,” Ukrenergo reported.
Thus, the Kharkiv metro service was stopped on April 5, the press service of the Kharkiv Metro enterprise reported. Due to the Shahed attack, some settlements in the region were also left without power supply.
At the same time, the hourly shutdown schedule is valid in Kharkov from April 1 to April 7, 2024, the press service of Kharkivoblenergo reported . “Energy generating enterprises have been significantly damaged. Now there is a shortage of electricity both in Kharkiv and in the region. We are working to provide light to household consumers, enterprises, and transport infrastructure, as well as to reduce the time of planned outages,” said the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
At the same time, work continues in the Kharkiv region to improve the reliability of power supply. In particular, high-voltage supports of the 110 kV overhead line damaged as a result of hostilities in the Chuhuevskyi district are being replaced. “Carrying out this work is extremely important to improve the reliability of power supply, so we continue to work on creating backup power supply circuits for our consumers,” said Oleksandr Hanus, head of the Kharkiv VREM.
Odesa and Odesa region: schedules are not applied, but the situation is complex
Energy workers continue round-the-clock repair work in Odesa. Today it is possible to avoid restrictions on light consumption.
“Ukrenergo’s efficient equipment cannot 100% meet the needs of Odesa and the Odesa region. Therefore, if consumption increases, restrictions may be applied again. We ask you to consume electricity wisely,” DTEK noted.
In the Chernihiv region on April 5, as a result of shelling from the Russian border, an air line was damaged, and 704 consumers in 5 settlements were simultaneously cut off. In total, 1,285 subscribers in 22 settlements were disconnected due to hostilities in the region.
Due to the fighting, 3,614 subscribers lost power in one of the settlements. Repair teams received 2,330 subscribers in three localities. 82 settlements (46.2 thousand metering points) remain without electricity.
Due to enemy shelling on April 5, 76 subscribers in 4 settlements lost power. In total, due to the fighting, 3.8 thousand metering points in 54 settlements remain without power.
As a result of enemy shelling, three air lines were cut off, leaving 443 subscribers in 7 settlements without electricity on April 5. Another 288 subscribers were disconnected due to a technological violation.
Also, due to a technological violation, the overhead line at the local thermal power plant was briefly turned off. In total, 9,358 consumers in 91 settlements were de-energized in the region.
In Kherson, 2,890 subscribers remain without electricity. As a result of new shelling in the region, 541 subscribers in three settlements were cut off. In total, 26.5 thousand subscribers were disconnected in the region.
According to Khersonoblenergo , 28 teams of power engineers are working to restore power supply in the Kherson region. These are 152 workers and 46 units of equipment.
In particular, repair work is being carried out on 35 kV, 10 kV and 0.4 kV overhead lines. These lines supply electricity to the following settlements: Topolyne, Mala Shesternya, Bila Krynytsya, Novopoltavka, Krasnolyubetske, Trudolyubivka, Kherson, Chornobaivka and Zelenivka.
