In Ukraine, some pensions will be increased from May 1
We are talking about those who have reached the age of 70 years and the amount of their payment does not reach UAH 10,340.35.
To receive additional payments, you must meet two criteria. The increase in pension is carried out automatically, so there is no need to contact the Pension Fund.
The following allowances are provided:
- pensioners from 70 to 74 years old - 300 hryvnia;
- pensioners from 75 to 79 years old - 456 hryvnia;
- pensioners over 80 years old - 570 hryvnia.
Pensioners will receive payments per month after the pensioner reaches the appropriate age, which allows them to qualify for them. The average pension increased from 5385 to 5743 UAH.
What pensions do Ukrainians receive?
Among pensioners, there are about 2.7 million who continue to work. They receive an average payment of 6 thousand UAH. In total, 10.1 million people receive pensions. Of these, the largest number (2.6 million) receive a pension of up to 3 thousand UAH. Another 1.7 million people receive from 3 thousand to 4 thousand UAH. 1.8 million Ukrainians receive from 4 thousand to 5 thousand UAH.
So, the majority of Ukrainians on their well-deserved retirement receive payments in the amount of up to 5 thousand UAH. High pensions (from 10 thousand UAH) are received by 1.2 million pensioners.
Let us note that an effective pension system can provide an opportunity for a worker to receive about 60% of his usual income during a well-deserved retirement. The International Labor Organization recommends that the minimum guaranteed income in retirement should be 40% of usual earnings.
Ukraine, unfortunately, fulfills this norm only for certain preferential categories (for example, judges can receive 80% of their salary in retirement), or in relation to the poorest. A Ukrainian with an average salary and 35 years of experience receives a pension upon well-deserved retirement, the amount of which is less than 30% of his usual income.
