Since the beginning of October 2023, Ukraine has ceded more than 300 square kilometers of its territory to Russia. More than 80 km2 were lost in April.

This calculation was made by analysts, reports War Mapper .

“As of the end of April 2024, Russia occupied a total of 17.53% (+0.01%) of the territory of Ukraine. This figure includes the Crimea and areas of Donetsk and Luhansk occupied until 2022. This means a net increase in favor of Russia of approximately 86 km² at the end of March,” the message says.

In total, over the past six months, the Russian Armed Forces managed to capture 348.12 km2 of Ukrainian territory.

Ukraine was more successful from May to October 2023, but then the Russians managed to intensify their offensive.
