Analysts said that the 115th Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces “did not plan” to defend Ocheretyne. The fact that the brigade suffered losses and collapse at the front was explained by the lack of cooperation and lies in the reports.

The Russian Armed Forces broke through the Ukrainian defenses and captured the village of Ocheretyne in the Donetsk region. On June 9, DeepState published new details of the events that unfolded at the front.

Analysts explained that the 115th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces replaced the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 71st Separate Separate Brigade. The rotation took place on March 27-28, and the brigades left on March 29. In January-March, the positions were strengthened and were transferred “in fairly good condition.”

“On the right was the 47th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, and on the left was the BTGr from the 23rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, which consisted of a hodgepodge of various units, including attached ones, which had been the least involved in recent months. That’s actually why they didn’t go with the main forces of the 23rd,” noted at DeepState.

Analysts refuted the information that the defense breakthrough occurred during the transfer of the 47th brigade to the 115th brigade. According to them, there was no interaction even within the 115th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, which is why “1 baht steadily fired at 2 baht, because they thought that the enemy was there.”

The “first problems” for the 1st and 3rd battalions began around April 8th. The TRD unit is reported to have escaped, jeopardizing the 3rd Battalion’s flank. Soldiers of the 115th brigade carried out measures to restore positions with the support of a tank, which fired only once. The assault actions were not planned, and their result was “considerable” losses. The 7th company lost its combat capability as a result of the operation.

On the morning of April 12, the Russian Armed Forces broke through the junction between the 1st and 2nd battalions in the area of the Brama and Otpor railways. The bulk of the defenders were killed or captured. Then the enemy began to break through the flank of the 2nd battalion, and the fire support companies “simply fled or went into denial, because they consisted of rear units and were of limited use.”

“The forces and means of support of the 3rd battalion also fled, although the fighters of the battalion itself continued to hold part of Novokalynove until April 20, when they were replaced by the 100th mechanized brigade,” reported DeepState.

On April 12-13, one of the platoon commanders of the 2nd battalion began to dig in with 5 soldiers in order to independently stop the breakthrough. It is noted that their fate is unknown. The reconnaissance company, which moved out to correct the situation, was completely defeated.

On April 14, the Russian invaders had already occupied almost the entire rear of the 2nd battalion’s strip. On April 17-18, the Russian Armed Forces occupied part of the private sector and a substation in Ocheretino, and already on April 22 they occupied high-rise buildings near the plant and shot at cars that were moving through the crossing.

“The defense of Ocheretyne did not actually take place. The trenches around the village were just a travesty and they were not suitable for defense. 115 did not plan to defend it,” the analysts emphasized.

The fact that the village was basically “empty” confirmed the absence of significant destruction. They also called “interesting” the losses of one of the battalion, where the number of missing in action was 24 times higher than the number of dead. DeepState is convinced that most of the supposedly missing people are actually dead.

“The soldiers of the 115th Mechanized Infantry Brigade on the first line took the battle and tried to save the situation, while a significant part were captured or died. The brigade’s reserves were not ready, there was no interaction, preparation for battles was also at a low level. As a result, the front failed and unjustified losses," the publication says.

It is reported that the 100th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, which replaced it, also “collapsed heavily” and suffered losses. Analysts explained this by the lack of an integral strip, which, during rotation, is occupied by a linear unit.

“The majority of the first line fighters stood until the last. Of course, the brigade could not adequately withstand a stronger and more numerous enemy. But, at a minimum, there should have been interaction, well-established logistics, fire support forces and the absence of lies in the reports. The soldiers even complained about the lack food, something similar over the past year could only be heard from those who were on the left bank in Krynky, where the logistics were really difficult,” DeepState reported.

Analysts said there must be accountability for the lives lost to ensure the situation does not happen again.

“It is especially worth considering that this is not the first skeleton in the closet. There were also Severodonetsk, Vodyane and Synkivka. Incompetent and criminal decisions cannot be covered up by dead soldiers, as the brigade media workers tried to do by attacking our analysts,” the post says.

It is reported that the commander of the 115th Mechanized Infantry Brigade was removed from his post, and now a new person is in charge of the brigade.
