Saving energy: Ministry of Education and Science has published recommendations for educational institutions

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine published a document "On stabilizing the operation of the unified energy system of Ukraine."

The document, in particular, states that municipal/state educational institutions and organizations belonging to the sphere of management of the Ministry of Education and Science must carry out the activities provided for by Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 510-r dated June 7, 2024.

Thus, according to the decision of the Government, due to the emergency situation in the energy system of Ukraine caused by Russian armed aggression, in the period until December 31, 2024, educational institutions and other educational / scientific institutions must ensure savings in electrical energy in their premises. In particular:

• by stopping the use of air conditioners;
• non-use of external lighting of buildings and surrounding areas.

However, according to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers, this does not apply to electrical energy that kindergartens/schools/universities produce at their own power generating plants for their needs.

At the same time, managers of efforts to eliminate the consequences of a state-level military emergency in electrical power systems must take other measures necessary to stabilize the situation.
