Former MP Kornatskyi served a notice of suspicion: illegally received compensation for housing

Former people’s deputy Arkadiy Kornatskyi was informed of suspicion of illegally receiving more than 900,000 hryvnia compensation for renting a hotel room in Kyiv, despite the fact that he is the owner of an apartment in the capital.

This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).

“On June 13, 2024, under the procedural leadership of the SAPO prosecutor, NABU detectives reported suspicion of illegally receiving 914 thousand hryvnias of compensation for renting a hotel room in the capital to the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the VIII convocation,” the message says.

It is noted that the actions of the ex-deputy are qualified under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position).

The SAPO reports that as part of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that from 2014 to 2019 the person illegally received from the budget of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the compensation for accommodation in a hotel room, assigned to people’s deputies who do not have their own homes in the capital.

“Having established the fact that he had his own home in Kyiv, the deputy illegally received UAH 914,000 during the specified period. The investigation continues,” informs SAPO.
