NABU began an investigation into the possible illegal enrichment of Deputy Prosecutor General Verbytskyi

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

"The facts disclosed in the Schemes investigative journalism programme regarding the possible illicit enrichment of the Deputy Prosecutor General are the subject of a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings initiated by detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine on 13 May 2024 on the grounds of a crime under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the prosecutor’s office said.

The Verkhovna Rada has summoned Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin to report on the property of his deputy Dmytro Verbytskyi at tomorrow’s session.

Earlier, journalists of the Schemes programme published an investigation that showed that Verbytskyi had settled in a townhouse in the Konyk cottage community in Kyiv, which was purchased by his nephew under a power of attorney for an Odesa businessman at six times the market value.

In the second investigation, Schemes told about Verbytskyi’s girlfriend Khrystyna Ilnytska, who in 2024 became the owner of a new Porsche and a 3-storey cottage in the same Konyk, with a total value of at least UAH 52 million, although her total income reported to the state over the past decade was just over UAH 360,000.

At the time, in a comment to Schemes, Verbytskyi stated that he did not help Ilnytska financially, but did not deny that he was in a relationship with her, but noted that it was not of a family nature.
