In Sumy region, a deputy of the regional council shot and killed a man on the territory of a hunting reserve. He has already been declared a suspect.

The incident, as the investigation found, occurred yesterday, at about 7 p.m., in the village of Zareche on the territory of the Northern Forest hunting reserve.
“While zeroing his own hunting carbine, instead of the designated target, the deputy shot at a forestry worker who was in the firing zone. The 46-year-old victim died from a gunshot wound at the scene,” the prosecutor’s office said.
Currently, the regional council deputy is in a temporary detention center. He must now be given a preventive measure. The prosecutor’s office insists on detention.
The regional council deputy, whose name is not named by the prosecutor’s office, faces a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 15 years if his guilt is proven in court.
