Public accounts report explosions in Skadovsk on the left bank of the Kherson region.
On February 24, 2022, Russian troops launched an invasion of the Kherson region from the temporarily occupied Crimea. The city of Skadovsk was then abandoned by all units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Regional Security Service, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the police, and on the same day it found itself under Russian occupation.
On April 6, 2022, after numerous threats from the occupiers due to refusal to cooperate, the mayor of the city, Oleksandr Yakovlyev, left Skadovsk, informing the townspeople about this on his Facebook page.
