Canada announced the allocation of 389 million Canadian dollars (more than 280 million US dollars) to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters.
This was reported by the office of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
According to the statement, these funds will be used to support the training of pilots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU), as well as to provide critical equipment for the safe operation of F-16 fighter jets by Ukraine.
Trudeau’s office also revealed the contents of a previously announced military aid package to Ukraine.
“It includes nearly $444 million for Defence Canada to support military equipment, assistance and training costs for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as more than $56 million for the NATO Comprehensive Assistance Package Trust Fund for Ukraine to help rebuild Ukraine’s security and defence sector and facilitate Ukraine’s transition to full interoperability with NATO," the statement said.
