The Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 24 billion for the purchase of drones for the Security and Defence Forces.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this at a government meeting.

"The government is fulfilling the order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and is approving a bill that legally enshrines the existence of the Unmanned Systems Forces. We are making the corresponding changes to the law on the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After the vote in parliament and the signature of the president, the process of legal registration of the new branch of the armed forces will be completed. Also today we are allocating UAH 24 billion for the purchase of drones for the Security and Defence Forces," he noted.

Shmyhal emphasized that in the war with Russia, Ukraine is focusing on innovations, asymmetric responses and approaches.

The Prime Minister also recalled that, at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a separate branch of the armed forces was created within the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – the Unmanned Systems Forces. He emphasized that Ukraine is the first country in the world to complete their staffing.

"Modern warfare is impossible without a powerful army of drones that operates effectively and interacts with other branches of the armed forces. Ukraine has achieved a real breakthrough in the production and use of drones. The state has already signed contracts for 1 million drones, and 500 Ukrainian companies produce UAVs," he added.
