During a hearing on August 27, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) for the third time did not choose a preventive measure for the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) Pavlo Kyrylenko due to his lawyer being busy with another case, so the hearing was postponed to August 28, Suspilne reported on Tuesday.

"Today, the HACCU again failed to choose a preventive measure for Pavlo Kyrylenko. This time, it happened because the suspect’s lawyer was in a hurry to attend another hearing. The court was postponed to 9:00 a.m. on 28 August," the statement said.

According to the information, the HACC session began with a demand to the judge to allow the process to be filmed and broadcast, as the court had banned video recording at the previous two sessions for reasons of the suspect’s safety. Kyrylenko and his lawyer insisted on holding the hearing without video recording. At first, the judge supported their position, but at the end of the hearing, he allowed video recording.

In a commentary to Suspilne, Kyrylenko said that he continues to act as the head of the AMCU. He was not suspended from work for the duration of the investigation.

According to the investigation by Skhemy, Kyrylenko’s family owns real estate, land near Kyiv and luxury property worth UAH 70 million. These assets were acquired in the period from 2020 to 2023, when he was the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration. Journalists found out that Kyrylenko did not indicate some of these assets in his declaration, including a 4-room apartment in Kyiv with an area of approximately 200 sq m and his wife’s car BMW X3. At the same time, the official’s family does not have sufficient official income to purchase these assets, according to the investigation.

As reported, Kyrylenko was appointed head of the AMCU in September 2023. Since July 2019, he has served as the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, and before that, since 2017, he worked as a military prosecutor of the Uzhhorod garrison in the Western region of Ukraine.
