About 22 thousand people have already been evacuated from populated areas of Sumy region, as Russian troops continue to shell the border areas of the region.

This was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

According to the head of the RMA, Volodymyr Artyukh, since the beginning of the year, Russians have carried out more than 10 thousand attacks on the territories of Sumy region, while last year there were 8 thousand such attacks.

In August alone, the Russians shelled the region more than 2,200 times. The occupiers use guided aerial bombs and FPV drones.

Volodymyr Artyukh noted that evacuation is being carried out to protect people from the region, and as of September 1, about 22 thousand people have already been moved from dangerous areas.

The head of the RMA is confident that the number of evacuees will grow. He stressed that the priority is to meet the needs of internally displaced persons whose homes were destroyed by the enemy.

In particular, an agreement has already been concluded on the installation of 10 modular houses for 70 displaced persons in the Sumy region, and the start of construction of a modular town in Sumy for 100 people is planned for September. The project is financed with the support of the Swedish Red Cross.
