Security Service of Ukraine detained an official of "Ukrenergo" who justified the crimes of the occupiers

The Security Service of Ukraine detained an official of NEK "Ukrenergo" who justified the war crimes of invaders and denied Ukrainian statehood.

"The suspect is one of the heads of the security department of the state enterprise, who was responsible for the protection of strategically important facilities of the Unified Energy System of Ukraine," - reported the SSU on Wednesday.

Case materials suggest that the official attempted to justify the war crimes of the Russian Federation in conversations with colleagues and acquaintances, including airstrikes on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

In addition, according to the agency, during phone conversations with his friends, the suspect "leaked" information about the consequences of missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities.

"At the same time, the officer praised the Kremlin regime and questioned the existence of the state of Ukraine. Moreover, he personally expressed his desire for the mass killing of Ukrainians," the statement noted.

Cyber specialists of the SSU gradually documented the criminal activities of the suspect and detained him at his residence in Kyiv.

The linguistic examination initiated by the Security Service confirmed the facts of illegal activities of the wrongdoer in favor of the aggressor country.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants, committed by an official).

Investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime, in particular regarding the unauthorized dissemination of information containing state secrets.
