Zelenskyy signed an important law: Ukraine will receive 4 billion euros from the European Union

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, signed a law on plea bargains in corruption cases. This enabled Kyiv to meet the conditions for receiving a tranche from the European Union.

The information is provided by the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

According to the website, law No. 12039 was returned to parliament with the signature of the head of the Ukrainian state. It took only two days after the document was passed in the second reading.

Now in Ukraine, thanks to the plea bargain, the court can impose a shorter prison term on corrupt officials than what is stipulated by the Criminal Code. The deal includes exposing accomplices and compensating for damages caused.

These rules do not apply to organizers of criminal schemes. For them, a shorter prison term is only possible if they reveal another organizer.
