An agreement on the repatriation of Ukrainian children from Russia was signed in Montreal, reports Le Monde.

According to the publication’s information, South Africa, the Vatican, and Qatar intend to act as intermediaries in the process of returning about 20,000 Ukrainian children.

Participants of the conference in Montreal also signed the "Montreal Commitments for the Return of Ukrainians." This document covers minors, civilian adults, and prisoners of war.

Qatar and Lithuania will serve as transit countries for the return of Ukrainians currently in Russia.

The UAE agreed to act as a mediator in the exchange of Russian and Ukrainian prisoners of war.

However, the text does not specify whether Russia has signed this document or agreed to the return of 20,000 children to Ukraine.
