The cathedral’s icon painter Yuriy Hetmanchuk noted that the depiction of some entrepreneurs elicited a mixed reaction among the residents of Lutsk, so "adjustments had to be made."
Local residents in Lutsk saw images of well-known local entrepreneurs on the walls of the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
This was reported by the online magazine misto.media.
Journalists noted that among the images were recognizable Lutsk businessmen-builders Viktor Chornukha and Leontiy Ivanyshyn, as well as the owner of the agricultural enterprise "Viliya," Yevhen Dudka, among others.
The media reports that readers of the publication also sent in a photo where a portrait of Ihor Palytsya could be seen on one of the frescoes. However, according to the journalists, such an image is currently absent.
One of the cathedral’s icon painters, Deacon Yuriy Hetmanchuk, mentioned that the initial images were created six months ago, but due to controversial feedback on some of them, "changes had to be made."
"This has now caused some public attention. Regarding Palytsya and other patrons, we were forced to adjust; the attention did not serve us well. Due to this attention, the work has currently been suspended," noted the icon painter.
According to the clergyman, the recommendation to depict entrepreneurs as patrons of the church was given by the head of the Volyn diocese of the OCU, Metropolitan Mykhail of Lutsk and Volyn, and in total, the list included 12 people. Currently, according to the icon painter, there is consideration for replacing the images of patrons with "figures of culture and art."
