Mobilization in Ukraine: In Kharkiv, about 10% of the volunteers are women

In the city of Kharkiv, among those who voluntarily apply to the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center for military service, about 10-15% are women.

This information was reported to the journalist of Gwara Media by the deputy head of the recruitment and staffing department of the Kharkiv regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center, Oleh Shchirsky, during a briefing at the Kharkiv Media Hub.

According to him, most women choose medical specialties for service, as well as the specialty of a clerk. In addition, he noted that there are women who choose specialties such as sniper.

«A lot of girls apply to us [ed. — to the Territorial Recruitment Center] for positions in the military units of the Air Force, as parachutists, for example», — added the military officer.

At the same briefing, Oleh Shchirskyi noted that more than 23,000 citizens applied to the army recruitment centers across Ukraine, among which 16.7% are recorded only in Kharkiv, exceeding 1,400 applications.

He also noted that to accommodate citizens wishing to join the military, there are two recruitment centers in Kharkiv, deployed in the city’s CNAPs (Administrative Services Centers).

Meanwhile, Shchirsky emphasized that the most popular positions in the military in the Kharkiv region are UAV operator, driver, and medical worker. Fewer people are willing to join the infantry, the major added.

He also added that recruiters do not assign a person with a secondary education to a position in the army that requires technical knowledge.
