Zelenskyy appointed a new head of the Brovary District State Administration

President Zelenskyy instructed to appoint Taras Bakay (pictured), a native of Lviv region, former customs officer and policeman, ATO participant, and a well-known auto-maydan activist in his homeland, as the head of Brovary District State Administration (DSA) in Kyiv region.

This became known from the presidential decree No. 121/2024-rp.

"Appoint BAKAY Taras Myroslavovych as the head of Brovary District State Administration in Kyiv region," stated the decree, which Volodymyr Zelensky signed on November 5, 2024.

Taras Bakay is originally from Mostyska district, Lviv region. From 2007 to 2014, he worked at the customs in Lviv region. After that, he participated in combat operations in the ATO zone as part of the volunteer battalion "Svyata Mariya". He held the position of head of the Internal Security Department of the National Police in Luhansk region. In 2017, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region, where he served until 2019. After leaving the police, in an interview with "Ukrainian Week", he stated that he planned to rest and recover after years when he "practically had no free time". In 2020, he ran for the Lviv Regional Council from "European Solidarity", but did not become a deputy.

On April 27, 2024, President Zelenskyy dismissed Volodymyr Maybozhenko from the position of head of Brovary DSA in Kyiv region (held the position since November 2022).

Maybozhenko is suspected of driving a car while intoxicated, which resulted in an accident injuring four people. The accident occurred on April 26, 2024, on one of the streets in Brovary. The car, driven by the head of the DSA, failed to stop at a red traffic light at an intersection and hit pedestrians on the roadside, injuring three adults and a child.
