On November 22, the Cabinet issued a new decree regarding exemption from mobilization. Now, a significantly smaller number of citizens will be able to obtain a deferment.
The new government decree stipulates that all military service deferments granted by decisions of the Ministry of Economy and via "Diya" are valid no longer than until February 28, 2025. On the air of Kyiv24, MP and member of the Economic Development Committee Bohdan Kutsak explained what this means, reports Channel 24.
Kutsak explained changes in booking employees of enterprises. He noted that the document contains a key provision that will lead to a significant number of previously exempted individuals losing their status altogether.
An employee whom an enterprise submits for exemption now must not only receive a salary of at least 20 thousand hryvnias. They must have been working at the enterprise before May 18, 2024. If a person was employed at a critical institution after this date, they cannot obtain exemption.
According to the MP, this means that among those who were granted exemption before the Cabinet’s adoption of the relevant decree, a significant portion will lose their exemption status.
It is worth noting that the government has updated the procedure for the exemption of employees from mobilization to reduce abuses in critically important enterprises. The new rules require enterprises to meet two mandatory criteria.
