Kolomoiskyi has definitively lost the battle for PrivatBank: the Supreme Court confirmed the nationalization
The Cassation Commercial Court within the Supreme Court confirmed the impossibility of returning the state-owned PrivatBank to the former owners and acknowledged the legality of closing the proceedings in the case filed by Ihor Kolomoiskyi and the company Triantal Investments LTD.
This was reported by the bank’s press service on November 26.
«Thus, the court protected the interests of the state as an investor that, through the recapitalization of PrivatBank, prevented the collapse of the financial system. The consideration of this case in courts of various instances lasted almost five years», — the message states.
In this case, the plaintiffs, Kolomoiskyi and the company Triantal, registered in Cyprus, tried to challenge the agreement on the purchase of the bank’s shares by the state and to regain their shares in the bank.
PrivatBank welcomed the court’s decision, noting that the case of Kolomoiskyi and the company Triantal posed significant risks to the country’s financial system.
«The case was closed in accordance with the provisions of the current legislation of Ukraine concerning the impossibility of returning the bank’s shares to the former owners», — emphasized Solvita Dehlava, a board member responsible for reorganization and problematic assets of PrivatBank.
