This week, NATO countries plan to reaffirm their commitment to assist Ukraine

On Tuesday, a two-day meeting of NATO foreign ministers will begin, with one of the topics being the situation in the Russo-Ukrainian war.

As reported from Brussels by "European Pravda" correspondent, a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council will also be held at NATO headquarters; in addition, the Ukrainian issue will be discussed at a meeting of Alliance members without the participation of partners.

The meeting of NATO foreign ministers will be the first session chaired by Mark Rutte in the role of NATO Secretary General.

Currently, it is not expected that a formal written decision by NATO will be made following the meeting, but headquarters note that the Alliance will announce a common position regarding support for Ukraine.

"We expect ministers… to reaffirm our unwavering support for Ukraine, which continues to repel Russia’s ongoing brutal war of aggression, using the right guaranteed to it by the UN Charter. We also expect ministers to consider Russia’s hostile actions in NATO countries and affirm that such actions will not deter Alliance members from continuing to support Ukraine and strengthening our defence," – stated a NATO official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, ahead of the meeting.

Alliance ministers will also discuss the conflict in the Middle East and its impact on Euro-Atlantic security.

The events in Georgia were not included in the previously approved agenda of the meeting, but there is a high likelihood that they will become a topic for discussion at the request of participants, according to headquarters.
