In the Zhytomyr region, police explosives experts neutralized the warhead of a Russian X-101 missile, which fell in a field near one of the populated areas. After each shelling by Russian troops, police meticulously examine the crash sites of fragments and munitions for further disposal.
The unexploded munition posed a serious threat to local residents. This is reported in the statement of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Zhytomyr region here.
"Recently, specialists from the explosive-technical service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region discovered the warhead of a X-101 missile that fell in a field near one of the populated areas of the region and did not detonate. For the safety of residents of nearby villages, police organized their temporary evacuation," it is reported.
The explosive object was prepared for controlled destruction: it was placed in a specially dug pit, covered with soil to reduce the force of the explosion and prevent debris from scattering, and then detonated.
After neutralization, specialists examined the crater formed by the explosion and confirmed the absence of danger to people.
The police urge adherence to safety rules when detecting suspicious objects. Upon finding munitions, missile fragments, shells, or other dangerous equipment, one should categorically refrain from touching or moving them independently.
In such cases, it is necessary to immediately report the find by calling 102 (police) or 101 (rescue services). Until the arrival of special services, it is important to warn others about the danger and ensure that no one is near the suspicious object.
