The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported that during 2024 it was possible to officially confirm the execution of 109 Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russians.
This was stated by Lubinets in a telethon.
"We are managing to officially document more violations of the rights of Ukrainian prisoners of war, executions, cynical point-blank executions, unfortunately. Only in 2024, it was possible to officially confirm that the Russians executed 109 Ukrainian prisoners of war."
According to Lubinets, a total of 177 cases have been recorded over the previous years of full-scale war.
He also emphasized that intelligence and law enforcement agencies provided information that the Russians often violate the rights of prisoners of war.
"Unfortunately, I could not go out and publicly show these examples of cynical violations of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, when we managed to document them – we do this," noted the ombudsman.
