Ukraine plans to launch a pilot project to repatriate its citizens who are abroad. The pilot project between Ukraine and Germany will start at the beginning of 2025.
This was announced by the advisor to the President of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kamyshin, at the 7th German-Ukrainian Business Forum.
The main goal of the project is to bring back Ukrainians who were forced to leave the country due to war or other circumstances. Particular attention is planned to be given to involving citizens in the defence sector, where they can work at defence industry facilities.
Kamyshin noted that, in addition to the pilot project, Ukraine is actively expanding the production of modern weapons and developing its defence industry. He emphasized that in 2024 the country will produce significantly more weapons than it could afford before, and by 2025 the volume of defence production could reach 30 billion dollars.
It is also planned that in the first half of 2025, a Ukrainian-German program under the aegis of the new Ministry of Unity will be launched, which will facilitate the return of Ukrainians to their homeland and their employment in strategically important sectors, particularly in the defence industry.
