Up to 70% of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers drink a little to sleep peacefully, but some can no longer even get up without alcohol, said company commander Dmytro.
"It seems to me that up to 70% of the personnel drink 50 grams to sleep peacefully. However, drinking varies. Someone drinks, gets a good sleep, and is ready for any task in the morning, while someone can’t get up without 100 grams. It is with such people that problems arise. Because they continue to drink whenever possible," says the company commander.
Main Sergeant of the 93rd Brigade, Oleh, notes that in his opinion, up to 80% of alcoholics in the Ukrainian Armed Forces had a similar dependence even before the army.
"There was a situation: I sent a trusted person for provisions. Once, he brought packages for the guys from the mail. There were no bottles of alcohol. And the guys got drunk. I checked their mineral water — and it was such moonshine that it burned no worse than oil," says company commander Dmytro.
Once, a platoon lieutenant was wounded in the back during a fight when he was looking for the soldiers’ things in search of moonshine, and he was warned to "calm down."
There was also an incident when all three soldiers at a position got drunk. The command understood this from communications on the radio, and they had to be withdrawn under fire and replaced with other soldiers. Sometimes the replacements died in such a situation, writes "Hromadske".
