
On December 31, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed decrees dismissing Serhiy Popko from the position of Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. The next decree appointed Tymur Tkachenko to this position.
This was reported by the Office of the President.
"According to Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine ’On the Legal Regime of Martial Law’, General-Colonel Serhiy Popko is to be dismissed from the position of Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration," the decree No. 897 states.
It is worth noting that on October 21, 2022, Zelenskyy appointed Popko as the Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. He holds the rank of General-Colonel and was the Commander of the Ukrainian Land Forces from 2016 to 2019.
At the same time, decree No. 898 appointed a new head for the Kyiv City Military Administration. Tymur Tkachenko took over the position.
"According to Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine ’On the Legal Regime of Martial Law’, Tymur Tkachenko is appointed as the Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration," the decree states.
Since September of this year, Tkachenko has held the position of Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development under Oleksiy Kuleba, and prior to that, since 2023, he was the Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries. Additionally, since 2021, he headed the Department of Urban Development for the Kyiv City State Administration.
