
Colonel Roman Kachur - a holder of the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Order of three degrees, Hero of Ukraine.
The former commander of the 55th Artillery Brigade, Colonel Roman Kachur, will become the head of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny Ground Forces Academy.
This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his address on Sunday, January 19.
“It is important that this decision is made together with our military. The Commander-in-Chief and the Commander of the Ground Forces suggested five candidates,” he noted.
According to the President, the candidacy of Roman Kachur received the most votes in the survey "Army+".
"I spoke with Colonel Kachur – he has a vision of what to change in military education and specifically in the National Ground Forces Academy," he said.
Zelenskyy added that the new leader was instructed to conduct an audit of the institution and present a plan for changes in military education.
“I instructed the Minister of Defense Umierov to appoint Colonel Kachur as the head of the Academy,” the President announced.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine needs high-quality military training, especially for officers, based on the experience of this war.
“The Ukrainian army needs leaders at the tactical level - strong sergeants, strong lieutenants,” he noted.
