The Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, noted that Ukraine is working on the creation of its own air defence system, which in its characteristics will be "no worse than the Patriot".
Syrskyi reported this in an interview with TSN. Week, which was broadcast on Sunday evening.
The journalist noted that if Ukraine had enough ammunition for the Patriot air defence system, it could help protect the Trypilska TPP from enemy attacks and expressed hope that Ukraine’s allies "will truly show themselves as allies".
"I agree with you on one hand. On the other hand, you know that even during Soviet times, we were practically manufacturing all the control systems for anti-aircraft missile complexes. That is, we have the resources and abilities to create, and work is underway to develop our own domestic air defence system."
When asked if this means that Ukraine might develop its own equivalent of the American Patriot air defence system, Syrskyi replied: "I hope that its characteristics will be no worse than those of the Patriot".
