President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainians on Unity Day. He emphasized that the strength of our people lies in unity.

"Millions of us are together. And together, we were able to endure, preserve Ukraine, repel the occupier, and hold back this great onslaught together. In this word – ’together’ – lies the hidden strength of Ukrainians. It is about us, about what we are capable of when we choose not some personal ambitions but Ukraine – choosing its interests. When we choose not conflict but the sword. To defend our own. To defend our people. To defend with all our might," he said. The video address was shared on Wednesday morning, January 22, by the YouTube channel of the Office of the President.

The president recorded the video in the capital at St. Sophia Square. It was there that the Act of Unity was proclaimed, when Right-Bank and Left-Bank Ukraine united into a single state.

Zelenskyy called St. Sophia Square a place of strength and wisdom, given by the events that took place there over a hundred years ago. They prove that when we fight, we inevitably achieve our own, but when we quarrel, we lose our own.

"And every year on this day we always remembered these lessons of unity, we made living chains, we said how important it is to preserve unity and stand shoulder to shoulder. But the day came, and we had to prove it. February 24," the country’s leader noted.

After the Russian full-scale invasion – a test of unity, maturity, and faith in Ukraine – Ukrainians united "not declaratively, not on paper, not by some command, but by a call from within."

"This is the land of every Ukrainian, this is our capital and this square – it is ours, every Ukrainian man and woman. Our Sophia. Here it stands for over a thousand years. And it will stand just as long. I am sure. I believe, our children, grandchildren, generations will come to this square. On Unity Day and on all other holidays. Under the blue and yellow flag. In our state. And we will do everything to make it so. So that we are not ashamed before them, so that they know we did not repeat the mistakes of the past," the president stated.

He wished citizens to be strong, believe in themselves, and in Ukraine.

"And to know for sure: Ukrainian unity is not only about the two banks of the Dnipro. It’s about our entire world. This is Ukraine today. Wherever we are. All of us born in different cities, towns, villages, all our warriors, our children, doctors, volunteers, teachers, energy workers, all who today, wherever they are, will say: ’I am Ukrainian! I am a Ukrainian woman.’

I want to congratulate you on Unity Day, dear, beloved Ukrainians! Glory to Ukraine!" said Zelenskyy.
