In service centers, a rush arose: Ukrainians rushed to re-register cars

Ukrainians have started massively re-registering cars after a month-long pause in the registries’ operation—more than 4,000 vehicles were registered in just one day. Due to the surge of demand, delays are possible, so it is advisable to plan your visit in advance.

This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (MIA). This number is impressive, as the system’s capacity is usually limited to about the same number of applications per day.

However, due to the pent-up demand caused by the month’s downtime of the registries, the number of applications for the service now exceeds the usual figures by more than one and a half times. According to experts from the Institute for Automotive Market Research, about 70,000 applications, formed in December and January, are still pending. To resolve the queue, the daily workload should increase to 6,800 applications—significantly more than the usual volume of work.

Due to high demand, delays in service are possible, as well as temporary disruptions in the registries’ operation. According to the MIA, physical limitations of the system’s capacity are due to the number of employees and technical capabilities.

What to do if there are no tickets available

Booking in advance through the electronic queue in the service centers is now becoming complicated due to high demand. However, there are alternative options:

While re-registration through Diya is also subject to load, it helps avoid physical visits to the service center, saving time for both buyers and sellers. It is expected that the electronic queue and the gradual reduction of load in the service centers will help cope with the rush. It is important to consider that the first days after the restoration of registries are always the most challenging, but the system adapts to the new level of demand.
