Under the operational support of the employees of the Strategic Investigations Department, investigators of the National Police in the Ternopil region, together with employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, liquidated a channel of smuggling narcotic-containing medicines into Ukraine. During the special operation, the police stopped the activities of an organized criminal group, whose members distributed prohibited substances among drug-addicted residents of various regions of Ukraine.

During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers established that the organizer of the criminal group was a 44-year-old resident of the village of Mykulyntsi. Together with his brother, he set up a supply channel for narcotic substances from Kalush to Ternopil at the beginning of 2024. They enlisted acquaintances as accomplices — a father and daughter, as well as hired a driver.

The assortment of the OCG’s goods included narcotic substances "Buprenorphine Hydrochloride," "Subutex," and the potent medicine "Sonnat." Some of the narcotic-containing preparations were obtained by the suspects in Kyiv using forged prescriptions, while "Subutex" was smuggled by their accomplice — a resident of Kalush — from EU countries.

Police investigators established that the dealers traveled to the Ivano-Frankivsk region for goods 2-3 times a month and purchased in bulk batches.

The "businessmen" earned almost 400 thousand hryvnias per month. The goods were sent to buyers by mail.

During the special operation, law enforcement officers, supported by special units of the KORD and "Alpha" Department, conducted searches of the suspects, during which they seized 15 packages of "Sonnat" tablets, 100 g of amphetamine, electronic prescriptions, two pistols, as well as 2070 US dollars, 3700 euros, 21 mobile phones, and notebooks.

Five members of the OCG were charged under Part 3 of Article 307 (illegal transportation, sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the organizer and one accomplice are also charged with drug smuggling (part 2 of Article 15, part 2 of Article 305 of the CCU). The article’s sanction provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment. The issue of charging the accomplice from Kalush is also being considered.

The procedural guidance is carried out by the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation continues.
