The Armed Forces of Ukraine refuted information about the occupation of Velyka Novosilka and the withdrawal of the Defence Forces from this settlement: as of the morning of January 26, the village was not under full control of the Russian troops. Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold the defense and repel enemy attacks.
There are currently no threats of encircling Ukrainian forces in this village. Such a statement was made by the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General-Khorunzhyi Marko Bezruchko.
First and foremost, the brigade, which is performing combat tasks in this direction, emphasized that the occupiers are unable to create a "cauldron" there.
"It should be noted immediately, there is no threat of encirclement of our units. Our defenders are fighting like lions – with extraordinary bravery," the message states.
The 110th Brigade added that over the past few days, the enemy has increased efforts in the Velyka Novosilka area.
"The enemy attempted to block our strongholds with massive infantry forces. The use of equipment was nullified, both on our side and that of the enemy. Everything that approached within a kilometer of the line of contact was destroyed," they say in the brigade.
They emphasized that while there is approximate parity with artillery and FPV in the area between Ukrainian and Russian forces, the enemy significantly outnumbers in infantry.
"But we’ve drained their blood quite well and continue to do so. From areas where there was a threat of encirclement, our units skillfully withdrew using weather conditions. This does not mean that we have completely left the city, battles in Velyka Novosilka continue. All actions are aimed at minimizing our own losses and maximizing enemy damage," the 110th Brigade emphasized.
At the same time, the military asserts that under the current circumstances, a potential capture of Velyka Novosilka will not bring significant advantages to the enemy but will instead become a sort of trap for them.
"Regarding the enemy’s prospects. The orcs will no longer be able to continue their offensive from Velyka Novosilka. A typical situation has arisen for the Muscovites - ’the main thing is to plant the flag.’ Price and prospects are unimportant. The Mokri Yaly River, which created problems for supplying our units, has now become an obstacle to the enemy’s advance. Entering Velyka Novosilka, the enemy found themselves in a fire trap where there will be no peace for them, any movement is halted by shells and drones," the brigade explained.

They also added: there are no intact buildings left in the settlement. So, the Russians will simply have nowhere to hide from Ukrainian strikes.
