Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on Romanian politician Georgescu’s desire to divide Ukraine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine believes that the statements of the Romanian pro-Russian presidential candidate Călin Georgescu are fully aligned with Russian propaganda, indicating his complete dependence on Moscow.

This is stated in a comment by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorgiy Tykhyi.

"The statements of the Romanian politician Călin Georgescu, which question the territorial integrity of our state, are an expression of extreme disrespect for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people," Tykhyi emphasized.

The spokesperson noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine considers revisionist statements or actions that encroach on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, contradict international norms, the UN Charter, as well as basic democratic values, to be categorically unacceptable and condemns them.

"Against the backdrop of such statements, Călin Georgescu’s attempts to position himself as an ’independent’ politician appear absurd: the theses he expressed are completely identical to Russian propaganda, indicating complete dependence on Moscow," Tykhyi remarked.

At the same time, the Ukrainian foreign policy department is convinced that it is in the interests of Romania and the Romanian people to achieve a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace in neighboring Ukraine, and the development of our two states in peace, security, and prosperity for our people.

"We remind that such a development of events is not in the plans of the Kremlin and its controlled persons," the statement said.

Ukraine also appreciates that Romania and the Romanian people have firmly supported Ukraine from the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against our state.

"We count on the further development of friendly Ukrainian-Romanian relations, which have the character of a strategic partnership, for the benefit of our two peoples," Tykhyi added.
