Syrskyi revealed which innovations are being implemented in the army

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, held a meeting regarding the improvement of training quality in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He reported this on Facebook. According to him, an analysis was conducted on the training level of graduates from training centers who underwent an extended basic general military training course lasting 1.5 months (instead of the previous 30 days).

At this stage, there is feedback from brigades about the improved readiness of newcomers.

"We will continue to implement this positive practice and enhance it with a further adaptive course in military units. However, the level of psychological training still leaves much to be desired at present. I emphasized the need to improve this area of work," Syrskyi noted.

Additionally, according to him, a new instructor training program is being introduced, increasing the duration of their preparation from 1 to 2 months, and strengthening the content and teaching methodology of this program.

"We have positive feedback on the progress and results of another experiment - undergoing basic general military training (henceforth BGMT) based on combat units. I listened to the report of a commander from one of the mechanized brigades about newcomers undergoing BGMT at their rear training grounds," he adds.

Commenting on the conclusions, Syrskyi noted that conducting the BGMT course on brigade grounds allows for a higher level of personnel training. This enables on-site quality control; reinforces skills in handling weapons and military equipment; improves team cohesion and the adoption of military traditions of the unit; and significantly reduces cases of non-battle injuries during training.

"Thus, this is another example of successful experience worth implementing on a permanent basis. We will scale this up. At the same time, I listened to proposals and problematic issues that arise during the training process. In particular, this concerns the staffing of instructor groups in brigades and enhancing their work, engaging them with training centers.

The proposals have been incorporated into the 5th edition of the BGMT program, developed with the participation of my deputy, Colonel Oleh Apostol. He maintains close interaction with commanders in the field, which allows for identifying mistakes, implementing noteworthy proposals, and scaling up the best practices of brigades and training centers," the Commander-in-Chief concludes.
