Russian attack on Kharkiv: a major fire broke out at a civilian enterprise

Last night, Russian occupiers attacked a civilian enterprise in Kharkiv with a strike drone. As a result of the enemy shelling, a large fire broke out.

This was reported by the spokesperson of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Dmytro Chubenko.

"At 23:50 (February 1), Russia struck a civilian enterprise in the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv. There was a hit on an enterprise engaged in clothing production," he said.

As a result of the explosion following the enemy attack, a fire broke out covering an area of about 2,000 square meters.

"As of now, there is no information about casualties at this enterprise," the regional prosecutor’s representative noted.

According to preliminary data, the Russians used a "Shahed" or "Geran" UAV for the attack on Kharkiv.

"A criminal case has been opened regarding this war crime under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," Chubenko added.

The regional prosecutor’s office also showed a video of the consequences of the drone strike on the Kharkiv enterprise that night.

Additionally, footage of the fire extinguishing in Kharkiv was released by the State Emergency Service (SES).

Emergency services reported that the fire was localized at 01:27, and its extinguishing is currently underway.

"45 rescuers and 8 units of SES equipment are involved in dealing with the aftermath of the enemy shelling. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties," added the Service.

The representative of the Media Relations and Public Affairs Sector of the Main Directorate of the SES in Kharkiv region, Yevhen Vasylenko, told Suspilne that the enemy hit a production and warehouse building, resulting in a large fire.

"Textile products and polyester raw materials are burning," he reported.

The SES also noted that rescuers managed to quickly stop the spread of the fire.

In the morning, the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleh Syniehubov reported that as a result of the enemy UAV hit in Kharkiv, "paper, textile, and polymer materials were burning in a warehouse building of a civilian enterprise."

"No information about casualties has been received," the official added.
