The closure of USAID affected UN projects in Ukraine
El Pais, citing sources, reports that the closure of USAID by Trump affected various UN projects in Ukraine.
It turned out that many of these projects also received significant funding through the State Department agency, for example, those related to human rights protection. However, programs related to children will remain unchanged.
UN agencies in Ukraine have already received an internal notice not to sign new documents that involve funding from the USA.
Some non-governmental organizations in Ukraine informed the UN that they have sent their staff home because they cannot pay their salaries.
The UN mission in Ukraine is determining which projects are "critically important" in order to preserve them.
