The Security Service and the National Police of Ukraine "hot on the trail" detained an 18-year-old FSB agent who, according to the investigation, prepared a terrorist act by blowing up the car of a military prosecutor in the center of Odesa on February 20. As a result of the explosion, a passerby was injured.
This was reported on February 21 by the SSU, National Police, and the Office of the Prosecutor General. It is noted that on Thursday, a car belonging to a prosecutor from the Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region was blown up in a parking lot in central Odesa.
Later that evening, law enforcement detained a suspect in the terrorist act at the bus station: he was planning to escape to Kyiv.

The detainee turned out to be an 18-year-old Odesa resident who, at the beginning of February, was recruited by the occupiers through a Telegram channel seeking "easy" money.

After the crime, he was promised $3,000.

Following instructions from the Russian special service, the young man handmade an improvised explosive device in a rented apartment with a power equivalent to 300 grams of TNT.

To increase its destructive power, he additionally equipped it with metal nuts and planted it under the military prosecutor’s car.

The suspect also installed a hidden phone with remote access functionality for the FSB across from the "target" and left the scene.

That same day, the Russians remotely activated the explosive. A passerby was injured, and parked cars and a building facade were damaged.

During searches, a phone with evidence of correspondence with the occupiers was seized from the detainee.

He was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Terrorist Act."

The question of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail is being decided. The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The full circle of individuals involved in the terrorist act is being established, the police stated.

The complex measures were conducted by SSU employees in the Odesa region jointly with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region.

The SSU reminded that in cases of attempts at recruitment for arson of the Armed Forces vehicles, administrative buildings, terrorism, or mining, it is necessary to immediately report this to the SSU chatbot "Spali FSBeshnika".
