Volodymyr Zelenskyy refuted Donald Trump’s claim that the USA provided Ukraine with $350 billion. The head of state noted that the full-scale war cost Ukraine less overall.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this at a press conference marking the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the USA provided Ukraine with $100 billion, an equal amount was provided by EU countries, and Ukraine invested $120 billion. Thus, the head of state refuted Donald Trump’s claim of allegedly $350 billion provided by the USA. At the same time, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he is not prepared to acknowledge that Ukraine must return $100 billion to the USA, as this money was provided not as a loan but as grants.
"Ukraine received $100 billion in assistance from the USA, not 350, not 500, not 700. But even $100 billion of debt I am not prepared to acknowledge, because a grant is not a debt. I negotiated this with Biden. There is an agreement that this is a grant. We do not recognize it as debt," explained Volodymyr Zelensky.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reported that Ukraine continues to receive assistance from the USA, but noted that this is aid approved during Joe Biden’s administration. According to the president, of the previously approved funds, $15 billion is "on the way."
