The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine failed to pass a statement confirming that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should remain in office until a new head of state assumes the position, as stipulated by the Constitution.
According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, only 218 deputies voted for the document, which is not enough for its approval.
Notably, the voting took place in the presence of European commissioners and representatives of European countries, MP Oleksiy Honcharenko noted.
Recall that recently Donald Trump has been actively urging Ukraine to hold presidential elections.
