Hungary blocked the adoption of the EU’s official statement on Ukraine
At the emergency European Union summit on March 6, a joint statement in support of Ukraine could not be adopted due to Hungary’s objection.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed disagreement with the draft document, citing existing strategic differences within the EU regarding Ukraine.
It is expected that the discussion and adoption of the statement will continue at the next meeting of EU leaders in mid-March.
