The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation claim control over Sudzha: footage appears online
Russian Telegram channels publish photos with the Russian army, allegedly taken in the center of Sudzha near the city administration (on Soviet Square).
At the same time, some Russian sources report that "the city is being cleared," while others claim that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have practically left it entirely, retreating towards the Sumy region.
The fact that Ukrainian troops are leaving the Kursk region is also reported by Forbes, citing Ukrainian military sources.
According to their information, as of February 25, a barrage of strikes by Russian drones disabled dozens of Ukrainian vehicles along the main road to Sudzha.
Forbes writes that some Ukrainian units, including the most capable brigades, have already been withdrawn to Ukrainian territory from the Kursk region.
"My friends managed to leave Kursk, avoiding encirclement," one Ukrainian source told Forbes. "It’s a shame it has come to this. But this is the reality."
"This might mean that Ukrainian brigades are leaving the Kursk area and yielding most of the territory Zelenskyy hoped to exchange for favorable ceasefire conditions," Forbes writes.
