Syrskyi: The Armed Forces of Ukraine hold the defence in the Kursk region, the enemy suffers significant losses

In the area of Sudzha and the surrounding territories of the Kursk region, active combat operations continue. The enemy is deploying assault units of the airborne troops and special operations forces to break through the defence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

This is reported with reference to a post by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, on Facebook.

According to him, Russian forces aim to push Ukrainian forces out of the Kursk region and move the combat operations into the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

Syrskyi stated that the enemy has already suffered significant losses.

"Since the start of the Kursk operation (since August 6, 2024), the total losses of Russian troops exceeded 54,900 personnel. Irrecoverable losses - over 22,200, sanitary losses - 31,800, prisoners - 942," he noted.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed or disabled over 2,100 units of Russian equipment, including 90 tanks, 654 armored fighting vehicles, two air defence systems, aircraft, helicopters, and nearly 1,500 drones.

Russian aviation continues to strike its own territory. "As a result of airstrikes on the town of Sudzha, this settlement is almost completely destroyed," Syrskyi reported.

He emphasized that the priority remains the preservation of the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, so if necessary, units maneuver to more advantageous positions.

As of 18:00 on March 11, Ukrainian forces repelled eight assaults by Russian-North Korean units.

"We will hold the defence in the Kursk region as long as it is feasible and necessary," assured the Commander.
